Brent Richards, MD, MSc

Brent is the CEO and Founder of 5 Prime Sciences, a genetics-driven target discovery and multi-omics services company spun out of McGill University. He is also a Professor of Medicine and Human Genetics at McGill University and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College London. He has trained in clinical medicine, human genetics, statistics and epidemiology and is a practicing endocrinologist. He was elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, and is recognized among the world's most-cited genetics researchers, with an h-index of 98 and over 51,000 citations (Research.com, World's Best Scientists 2026).

At 5 Prime Sciences, Brent leads a platform that applies causal human biology and AI to identify and validate drug targets for pharma and biotech partners. He has worked extensively with drug development teams in industry on this approach, and was a member of GSK's International Scientific Advisory Board for Human Genetics.
