Matthias Schoettle, PhD

Matthias holds a PhD in Computer Science from McGill University, where he worked in the Software Engineering Laboratory on model-based software reuse, and has co-authored 17 research publications cited over 400 times. He also holds a BSc and MSc in Computer Science from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

Matthias brings over 12 years of software engineering experience building and modernizing systems for healthcare, research, and manufacturing environments. Most recently as Software Architect at Opal, an open-source patient health platform, where he led architecture and technical direction. A strong proponent of open source, Matthias has been an active contributor to projects across the Python and Django ecosystem.

At 5 Prime Sciences, Matthias is instrumental in building out the company's scientific data platform.
