Sahir earned his PhD in Biostatistics from McGill University, later serving as Assistant Professor in Biostatistics and Diagnostic Radiology, leading an NSERC- and CIHR-funded research program in statistical genetics and machine learning, and authoring R packages downloaded 350,000+ times. He remains an Adjunct Professor at McGill. Before joining 5 Prime Sciences, Sahir served as a Senior Research Scientist at Deep Genomics using deep learning to identify therapeutic targets. One of Sahir’s key accomplishments was to lead human genetics analyses of ANGPTL4 on triglycerides, cardiovascular risk and safety liabilities, presented at ASHG 2025. He developed a framework for mapping inter-tissue signalling to prioritize targets and built Mendelian randomization pipelines for 5 Prime's Centromere platform.
At 5 Prime Sciences, Sahir leads scientific programs applying human genetics and multi-omics to identify, prioritize and validate targets for biotech and pharma partners.
